Muddy Waters

This newly released print is 26” x 19” (66 cm x 48.3 cm) produced from my original oil painting. Muddy Waters has always been tops in my book of bluesmen. But forget about my opinion…He was the King of the Chicago Blues, heavily influencing blues legends that have followed. The Rolling Stones named themselves after his 1950 song “Rollin’ Stone”, Hendrix covered his songs, Clapton grew up a big fan of his, Dylan, Zeppelin, and the list goes on and on.

Rolling Stone magazine ranked him at #17 on its list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. I saw Muddy play in a small club in Milwaukee in the 70’s, front and center with my feet propped up on the stage. It remains one of my cherished live shows. And now, following in his footsteps… Mud Morganfield, his son…oh my!!! Check him out sometime soon!!

Muddy Waters died in his sleep from heart failure, at his home in Westmont, Illinois, on April 30, 1983.
