Dickey Betts

“Ramblin Man”

Titled by the man himself!

Here’s the beginning point…this small 8″ x 10″ color pencil sketch.

As I prepare to paint the full sized 40″ x 28″ oil painting of Dickey, I’ll use this color sketch
to guide my general idea of where it’s going.

And the painting starts…

This is starting to come together.

Dickey gets his Les Paul.

Saturday night in the studio with Dickey!

and…now it’s finished!!

The 27″ x 19″ prints are now completed and are shipping!

I’m proud to announce and give credit to photographer Kirk West for collaborating with me once again on this painting. Kirk West, the Allman Brothers long time manager shot this 1989 shot of Dickey, and I’m pumped to do his image proud.

I was unsure of what to title this painting, but on his birthday, Dickey reached out with the suggestion of “Ramblin Man”. Who can argue with that?
