Welcome to the this website page dedicated to the painting of…

The Grateful Dead

 “Fare Thee Well”

GD New Sketch

Here’s my small color pencil sketch used for approval & overall reference.
It’s the starting point for the 62″ x 44″ oil painting.

GD00

A rare midnight view of the organic beginnings of the painting

GD01

A single line locates the top of Jeff’s organ

GD02

And it starts…
Beginning brushstrokes lay down some early rhythm with Jeff Chimenti and Bruce Hornsby.

GD03

Gettin’ in the groove…

GD04

Billy joins the party…

GD05

Some energy approaching…

GD06.

And the crowd starts getting into it!

GD07.

the evening lights coming on…and the midnight oil burns…

GD08.

Jeff & Bruce

GD09

Let there be light…

GD010

Trey is about to kick it up a notch!

GD011

Phil…laying it down!

GD012

One step closer…

GD013

Trey joins the jam with a bit of intensity

GD014

99.8% done…
Now I walk away from it for a week and see if I still like it when I return!

GD015

Done! (and yes, my first cameo!)

GD016

You know it’s really done when it finally hangs on my living room wall

Prints are created
