Tom Waits

‘Sweet Syncopation’

This fun painting is one I’d been thinking about for a while!

Tom Waits is a singer-songwriter and composer with that very distinctive trademark growl. His incorporation of pre-rock music styles such as blues and jazz, and experimental tendencies verging on industrial music has built up a distinctive musical persona, and he’s attracted a strong cult following.

He has worked as a composer for movies and musical plays and has acted in supporting roles in films including Paradise Alley and Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

His recent albums such as Bad as Me, Real Gone, & Rain Dogs were played quite a bit during this painting, as well as his live recording Nighthawks at the Diner from 1975.

Gotta love Tom Waits!!
