It's about time for this painting...BRIAN WILSON...the 20th century musical genius!

Shown above is just the beginning!     This small colored pencil sketch is what the 28" x 40" original oil painting was fashioned after.

I’ve titled this painting “God Only Knows”, the classic love song from the Pet Sounds album, released in 1966. 

Pet Sounds is now regarded as the masterpiece of composer-producer Brian Wilson and is often hailed as one of the greatest albums ever.

Paul McCartney described “God Only Knows” as "the greatest song ever written. It’s one of the songs that reduces me to tears, every time I hear it”.

Brian Douglas Wilson (born June 20, 1942) is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer who co-founded the Beach Boys. Often called a genius for his novel approaches to pop composition, extraordinary musical aptitude, and mastery of recording techniques, he is widely acknowledged as one of the most innovative and significant songwriters of the 20th century. His best-known work is distinguished for its high production values, complex harmonies and orchestrations, layered vocals, and introspective or ingenuous themes. Wilson is also known for his high-ranged singing.

The History of Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys is way too expansive to even touch upon here. Look him up, watch the 2024 documentary, and you’ll wonder like I have, why I’d waited so long to capture him on canvas.
